Basic Car Health and Maintenance

They say that buying and owning your own car is a big responsibility. It doesn’t only cover you paying for your own gas or parking ticket, but also the proper maintenance of the car.

Regardless of the type of car you have, maintenance should be done regularly to ensure top performance. One of the most basic ways of maintaining one’s vehicle is by washing it. Going for a carwash should be a part of a car-owner’s life. However, this does not mean that you visit a carwash every day. The soap and chemicals used in washing cars can also cause damage to the car’s paint. Probably every 2 weeks is advisable to get a car washed. Plain water can be used if a bit of sand or mud is present.

Another maintenance tip is using the recommended petroleum. Cars are made with a specific recommendation from the manufacturer on what kind of petroleum its motor runs best. For instance, a gasoline powered car functions best when loaded up with gas and not diesel. The effects of continued mismatch with the recommended petrol with what you are using add garbage that is left in the car’s engine. This decreases your car’s performance, causes you a great deal of headache and much damage to your pocket.

Maintenance should also cover the inner and every bit of machinery inside the car. Regular air-conditioning cleaning, undercoating and cleaning or vacuuming of the car should be done. For some, undercoating is done every year. Tune-ups and change oils are also recommended to make sure that plugs are always clean. Brake pad checks and transmission fluids should also be checked regularly.

Car maintenance is very important since your life is not the only thing at risk but the lives of other motorists as well.
